the fact that he thought it was the same old shows it doesnt matter whether its 2009 or 2011, it just really looks the same. sole is dope an all, but how often can you just paint the same kind of piece, same size etc.. yawn. wheres the progression?

Personally I think there's no variation in the ideas behind sole's pieces in someone else's words

"surly graff isent about spending hours touching up a peice, y bother if ther is no real improvement and discovery in the letters itself."

graff should be about imagination and doing things that are actually new imo in those pics linked above all the os and ls are the same the actual differences in the pieces are small. Sole is one of the besbut needs to work on something else than fills

Alot of Soles stuff does look pretty much the same.
Yeah he might move the connections around and once in a blue moon will do something a little different, but it gets a bit boring seeing pretty much the same piece over and over again.

Cant agree with the comments on this about Sole doing the same piece time after time. Sole is a writer with instantly recognised style. That style in my opinion, is being mistaken for him doing the same piece over and over. If you have a certain style then that style, and certain elements of it, are going to come across in your work, be that connections, arrows, whatever.

Now i dont think that Sole does the same piece over and over but there are plenty out there in the graff world who have the same piece time after time approach. If you dont have that type of approach then you are going to struggle to understand why someone would do that. However, if like me you question one of these writers as to why they do it then you may begin to understand. You might not agree but at least you'll know where they are coming from and why they do it.

I'm sure Sole will take all your anonymous comments on board and get to work on a new style sharpish so you can all stroke your chins while you sip your latte's commenting on his latest style and wether it meets your standards...as Scottish related pieces go Sole is a standout writer he sets out to do something 100% his pieces are well planned and this shows in the finished works. I've seen Soles work evolve over the years to this standard and i enjoy seeing the little additions he brings to his latest pieces which inturn begin to change his style everytime he paints .
I think the way in which people view graffiti online doesn't help this sort of we've seen it all before type mentality, the fact you can view an entire writers work in about 20 minutes ( don't quote me on that) worth of flickr viewing and via other blogs such as this one is missing the point if your involved in writing you would see a writers work maybe once a month by actually going to one of the spot s where the work exists in the flesh. This sort of live experience adds way more appreciation to Graffiti and those who put the work in creating it.
This armchair approach just makes peoples minds lazy it's to easy to post a half baked comment online it's unlikely the poster of the sole comments would or could even be bothered to speak to Sole about his style gripe.

I wouldn't normally comment on this type of thing, but as it seems to have brought up some discussion... I think that anybody who writes often enough is eventually going to find a style that they feel comfortable with. The sort of graffiti I do, is really my version of the stuff I like. I agree that sometimes aspects of my pieces feel repetaive, and I'll admit to painting the same piece twice, but really I just enjoy painting, and if I don't have anything new, I'm not gonna miss oot on an opportunity to get Ma skoosh on!

Some writers change what they do each time more than others, Jekyl changes his pieces quite a lot for example. Sole's style is the same but his pieces do vary, check this;

Theres two Sole pieces on this page go look at them and if you find them to look alike style wise then i think you aught to consider a new career as your graffiti one is over instead a light in the tunnel beckons you towards a large gathering of justin beiber fans on there way to a paedo spit roast... your wasting everyones time and your own commenting on something you clearly don't really care that much about.
